Molo Ikaya Umoya Bungalow
The Bungalow

Zensa’s bungalow is rapidly becoming a well-known secret in Scarborough. Locals pop in for a cup of coffee, read a newspaper, grab a home cooked muffin. In the mornings people come and work quietly in an environment of peace. Wireless internet connecting them to the hustle and bustle of the world out there. At the end of the day, a few people might wander in for a beer and a chat.

All this in the spirit of Zensa Lodge: respectful of neighbors, of nature, of other guests. The bungalow is the place where people meet. Or it is a place to simply enjoy being around people, without interacting with them.

We also have a little boutique in the bungalow. A platform for locals to exhibit and/or sell their products. Our own Zensa olives, next to objects d’art, home grown produce and handicraft. But it’s also a place to just sit and read the paper, or a book by the cozy wood burning stove.

Dining room

The dining room is the place to have breakfast in winter and dinners at night. It’s also the place where people come and sit with a laptop and a cup of coffee during the day. Somehow this room is the centre of Zensa Lodge, it being one of the oldest buildings in Scarborough adding to its charm. The small wooden house was shipped as a kit from England during the twenties, when Scarborough was nothing more than pastures.

Boutique

The boutique, adjacent to the dining room, is a cozy place with a cute, yet efficient wood burning stove. Just sitting here reading a book, surfing the internet, having a cup of coffee, chat with one of the locals is a joy. The shelves contain lots of local products: our home grown Zensa olives, home made pesto, eggs from our chickens, locally baked bread and cakes. But also locally made wooden objects, mohair and unusual souvenirs.

Terrace

As soon as the sun is out, and the temperature allows it, our large terrace turns into an Italian style outside area. Small tables under the latta roof. Overlooking the swimming pool, the garden and the mountains all around. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are enjoyed here as well as a lovely sundowner or aperitif.
