Food plays an important role at Zensa Lodge. Well-being goes hand in hand with enjoying carefully prepared food. Food made with the best ingredients possible. We grow many vegetables in an organic way ourselves. Our morning eggs are fresh from our own chickens. Herbs are hand picked in our herb garden. But it is not only the enjoyment of food that is important; we also have regular cooking classes in our place. We do wine tastings, inviting one of the many excellent connoisseurs that are to be found in the Cape area. Of course our guests can have an intimate dinner-a-deux, but often dinners are the times where our guests meet, where we meet with our guests, where the joy of eating and talking go hand in hand. Zensa boasts a varied South African wine collection, some wines are even offered by the glass; an excellent selection of liquors for the enjoyment of our guests is available as well.

OUR PRODUCTS

At Zensa Lodge we are growing our own vegetables, gathering eggs from our corn-fed chickens, potting the olives from the old olive trees in our garden. We also buy products from local farmers and bakers. Organic, real in-season produce is what we aim for. The sea is another source of our food: in season we offer cray fish, but all year around there is snoek, yellow tail, mussels, oysters, sea bass. We search in the best places for our meat: Karoo lamb, Botswanan aged beef.

 
 
OUR CHEFS

Kyall Goodman and Natasha Tait have made a name for themselves in the southern peninsula as being excellent chefs for all kinds of occasions. They have created a Scarborough initiative: “Chefs on the Move” where they visit a different house every week to prepare a meal for a weekly changing group of people. They have been long-term associates of Zensa Lodge and are really part of our team.
